About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator to manage the day-to-day payroll operations for a large, fast-paced retail workforce. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with relevant awards, and provide support to store managers and employees on payroll-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payroll for a large volume of retail staff (casual, part-time, full-time)
  • Maintain and update employee records including tax file numbers, bank details, and superannuation
  • Interpret and apply retail awards, EBAs, and entitlements accurately
  • Calculate and enter timesheets, leave, allowances, and overtime
  • Process new hires, terminations, redundancies, and changes in employment status
  • Reconcile payroll and prepare reports for finance and HR
  • Submit STP, superannuation, and payroll tax obligations in a timely manner
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees and store managers
  • Assist with month-end and year-end payroll processes including PAYG summaries and audits

Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing, ideally within the retail or similar fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, including Fair Work, Superannuation, STP, and payroll tax
  • Experience working with awards and EBAs (retail experience highly regarded)
  • Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., HR3, Kronos, MicrOpay, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable
