Reporting to the Head of Project Development and/or Lead - Planning and Environment, and working as part the wider team, the GIS Specialist role will work alongside the origination, development, construction and asset management teams to produce and manage accurate maps and project databases originated and managed in a robust GIS information database for each of the assets and for the portfolio more broadly.
The GIS Specialist will be part of a team of 25 covering Australia for the Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners and will ensure the efficient and effective (visual) communication of the PEP and QIP assets as required.
The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing and analysing geographic data to support various projects and initiatives within the organisation. This role involves creating and maintaining GIS databases, managing data files, producing maps and spatial analyses, and providing technical support for GIS applications.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Data Management
: Collect, manage, and maintain geographic data from various sources. Ensure data accuracy and integrity. Implement data standards and best practices. - Field work data preparatio
n: Develop and configure maps and datasets in ArcGIS Field Maps to support efficient offline fieldwork. - WebGIS administration
: Manage and maintain the ArcGIS Online environment, including licenses, credits, web maps, and data, to ensure reliable system performance and smooth day-to-day operations. - Mapping and Visualisation
: Create high-quality maps and visualizations to support decision-making processes. - Technical Support
: Provide technical support and training to staff on GIS applications and tools. Troubleshoot and resolve GIS-related issues. - Project Collaboration
: Work closely with other departments and stakeholders to understand their GIS needs and provide appropriate solutions. Participate in project planning and implementation. - Spatial Analysis
: Conduct spatial analyses to identify patterns, trends, and relationships in geographic data. Present findings in a clear and concise manner. - Documentation
: Document processes, methodologies, and workflows related to GIS projects. Maintain accurate records of data sources and analyses.
Experience:
- 2+ years experience in spatial modelling and services.
- Proficiency in Esri products and spatial analysis.
- Knowledge of renewable energy infrastructure and environmental planning regulations in Australia.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Python, R, or other scripting languages for geospatial automation is a plus.
- Experience with remote sensing, spatial databases, open source GIS data sources and data visualization platforms highly regarded.
Education -
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, or related field
