We are seeking an efficient and detail-oriented GIS professional to join our friendly and committed team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating exceptional quality graphics for public news releases, maintaining and visualising our client's valuable GIS data, and producing insightful thematic maps that clearly communicate exploration and mineral discovery potential.

This is a unique opportunity to directly contribute to our clients' public profile and help stakeholders understand the significance of Global Ore's geological findings.

The role is offered on a part-time or contract full-time basis. Candidates must be available for a minimum of 30 hrs per week.  Applicants need to be Brisbane based or able to work from a Brisbane city office at least 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GIS Data Management: Maintain, update, and ensure the integrity of geological exploration spatial datasets, including drillhole data, geophysical surveys, geochemical sampling, geological mapping, and tenement boundaries.
  • Thematic Mapping & Visualisation: Develop and produce clear, informative, and aesthetically pleasing thematic maps to visualise and analyse geological trends and exploration targets.
  • Data Interpretation & Communication: Work closely with geologists and the exploration team to understand data and effectively communicate all related spatial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay Current: Keep abreast of the latest advances in GIS technology + software, data visualisation techniques, and cartographic best practices to ensure our outputs are industry-leading.
  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures for all cartographic and data products.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in creating high-quality cartographic products and data visualisations, preferably within the mining or geological exploration sector for public release.
  • Strong proficiency with industry-standard GIS and 3D software (e.g. QGIS, MapInfo, Micromine +/- Geoscience Analyst +/- Leapfrog) and Microsoft Office package PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Experience visualising and managing various types of spatial data (particularly related to geosciences).
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of cartographic design principles, map layout, and symbology for clear and effective communication.
  • Experience preparing GIS data and graphics for public dissemination.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Tertiary qualification in GIS, Geoscience, Earth Sciences, Surveying, or a related field.
  • Strong 3D geological modelling skills and extensive visualisation software experience.
  • Flexibility to operate in a dynamic environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Understanding of database management principles.
  • Knowledge of Australian JORC Code reporting requirements related to spatial data would be an advantage.
  • Other graphic design software skills (particularly open source, e.g., Inkscape, GIMP) for enhancing map outputs may be an advantage.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates are invited to submit their resume and a portfolio showcasing examples of their best cartographic work and data visualisations, particularly any relevant to geological data or public releases by 21st October 2025.
