Senior Landscape Architect

Are you a skilled and experienced Landscape Architect with a passion for creating high-quality public spaces? We are seeking a Senior Landscape Architect (Technical) to join our Parks Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a lead role in shaping parks, open spaces, and streetscapes that benefit our communities.
Working under the general direction of the Parks Design Coordinator, you will provide technical design expertise, manage complex landscape projects, and contribute to strategic planning and community engagement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional landscape architecture, urban design, and open space planning services.
- Undertake the design and documentation of major public realm and park infrastructure projects.
- Provide specialist advice to internal teams, operational staff, external consultants, and statutory authorities.
- Develop and lead stakeholder and community engagement for proposed designs and strategies.
- Prepare project reports, funding submissions, formal correspondence, and presentations.
- Monitor and report on project progress, budget, and deliverables.
- Identify and implement design improvements and quality assurance processes.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative design team.
About You
You are a detail-oriented, innovative design professional with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You bring strong communication skills, technical expertise, and a passion for creating functional and beautiful public spaces.
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualification (minimum 4-year degree) in Landscape Architecture or related field, accredited by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).
- Significant professional experience in landscape architecture, with a proven ability to produce high-quality design and documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and delivery of public open space and streetscape projects.
Advanced Proficiency In
- AutoCAD
- Adobe Creative Suite
- Freehand graphics and visual presentation
- Microsoft Office (including Excel)
- GIS (desirable)
- Proven ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including community members, statutory authorities, and internal teams.
- Strong report writing, project coordination, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of park planning and management principles.
- Ability to provide mentorship and technical guidance within a small team setting.
