The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
Enforcement and Detained Goods East (EDGE) is responsible for operational activity around the border, including the execution of post border activity, management of unlawful non-citizens in the community and screening of sea cargo consignments.

Under the Command Control structure, Port Operations East sets operational priorities and issues tasking directives to NSW work area commands. Port Operations East exercises operational control over assigned resources to complete the tasks, including workforce capabilities.

EDGE consists of Investigations, Field Operations, Removal Operations, the Container Examination Facility and Detained Goods Management functions. East and Port Operations is responsible for coordinating the deployment of Border Force officers in specified geographical areas to achieve the Australian Border Force’s strategic outcomes.

Field Operations NSW/ACT plays a key role within the Australian Border Force (ABF), primarily focussed on post border migration related enforcement activity. Officers conduct a range of enforcement activities including _Migration Act 1958 (Cth)_ search warrants and location / detention of unlawful non-citizens (UNCs). The aim of this work is to prevent and deter breaches of migration law and enforce compliance with Australia’s visa programs.

As part of these activities, Field Operations officers exercise legislative powers that enable them to locate and detain UNCs. Officers may also cancel or grant visas, depending on evidence presented by the person and satisfaction of statutory criteria. They also have the power to seize documents and other items.

**About the role**:
Field Operations Supervisors lead enforcement teams and conduct covert observations in the field to locate and detain unlawful non-citizens via search warrant who present a risk to the Australian community and collect evidence of offences under the _Migration Act_ 1958 (Cth). These operations can be conducted in metro or remote rural locations across a large area of operations in NSW.

The ACT Field Operations Team is looking for an enforcement officer with a high degree of determination, adaptability and professionalism. The position of Supervisor in Field Operations ACT has responsibility for supervising a team to conduct investigations to locate, engage and detain un-lawful non-citizens who present a risk to the Australian Community using a variety of legislated powers under the _Migration ACT 1958 (Cth)_. Under direction from the Inspector Field Operations ACT, the position oversees the planning and deployment of Field Operations officers to undertake migration enforcement activities listed below.

Field operations is responsible for improving the level of compliance with relevant immigration laws by conducting a range of complex compliance activities. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring officers use appropriate powers and technology to identify and improve the level of compliance through conducting assessments and operations to prevent, deter and enforce breaches of immigration law.

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Lead search warrant operations in order to locate and detain unlawful non-citizens in the community and Lawful Non-Citizens not complying with their visa conditions;
- Conduct operational planning to deploy Field Operations teams interstate, and supervise logístical movements of personnel and equipment;
- Under direction from Inspector ACT Field Operations supervise investigations casework for sensitive and complex migration cases;
- Supervise a tactical team in the field, including overseeing and mentoring junior officers to conduct investigations to locate Unlawfu
