**The Role**

This role will see you provide a hands-on opportunity to assist the CHL’s Governance team to ensure CHL meets governance best practice, while remaining compliant with legal and corporate requirements.
While working closely with CHL's Chief Governance Officer and Group Company Secretary, you will be responsible for drafting and identifying improvements to governance policies and procedures as well as assisting with governance improvement initiatives.
In this role you will assist with general, board, committee and executive meetings and functions including scheduling, preparation of agendas, papers and minutes. Additionally, you will also be researching and providing information to the executives and the board and maintain various registers and documentation for use by the boards, committees and executives.
You will also maintain and assist maintaining policy administration framework, contract and governance documents and registers and managing compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements and filings.

To be successful for this role, you will have a genuine passion for wanting to support vulnerable people in our community.
**Essential Criteria**:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (required)
- Tertiary qualification in law or similar (preferred)
- Prior work experience in legal, governance, commercial or non-for-profit setting (preferred)
- Sensitivity and understanding of issues affecting Indigenous people, socially disadvantaged groups including homeless people, people with special needs/disabilities, and people from a non-English speaking background
- Commitment to the right of every person to good quality housing
- Satisfactory Police Check
Please note that a satisfactory police check is required for all staff and those with client related responsibilities are required to provide a NDIS and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
