$76,084 - $81,860 excluding Super, + RDO
Join a team that’s shaping open spaces for generations to come.
At the City of Boroondara, we are proud custodians of beautiful, sustainable, and inclusive open spaces. We’re seeking a dedicated Technical Officer - Parks to support the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of our parks, gardens, streetscapes and community facilities.
About the role
You will play a hands-on role in maintaining and improving the presentation, health and functionality of Council’s open space assets. Working across the municipality, you’ll oversee daily horticultural operations, coordinate with contractors and staff, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality outcomes that benefit our residents and visitors.
You will also support field staff in maintaining best-practice horticultural standards, participate in irrigation and site audits, and be an essential part of creating and sustaining welcoming environments for the community. This is a full-time position based at Kew Depot with the expectation of working across multiple sites as needed.
About you
You bring experience and passion for horticulture, with either a Certificate IV in Horticulture or equivalent industry knowledge. You're a confident communicator who enjoys working outdoors and collaborating with a team. Your ability to guide, support and mentor others—along with your strong time management skills—will see you thrive in this role.
You understand the importance of sustainable land management, safe work practices and community service, and are ready to contribute to a positive team culture that values respect, innovation and collaboration.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be actively involved in the day-to-day horticultural maintenance of public spaces. You'll conduct site visits, ensure plant health and presentation standards are met, and take a proactive role in assessing, scheduling and prioritising works. Regular audits will help you identify gaps, while your irrigation knowledge will support healthy turf and garden growth.
You will also lead and support staff and contractors, ensuring work plans are clear and effective. Your ability to communicate with residents, community groups and suppliers will be vital in delivering a responsive, customer-focused service. You’ll use systems such as Conquest to manage work orders and maintain accountability and contribute to seasonal planning with inventory and planting lists.
If you would like to know more about the role, please refer to the position description.
