The Knights compete in Australasia's rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership. We are owned by The Wests Group Australia, Newcastle's owned and operated (not-for-profit) membership-based organisation.

**About the position**

The Community Relations Coordinator plays an integral role in connecting the Newcastle Knights with the community the Club is proud to represent. The position is both responsive and proactive, focused on identifying, developing and delivering opportunities for the Club to engage with its community in a meaningful, genuine and impactful way.

Inherent to the role is the ability to manage the interface between community partners, not-for-profit organisations, schools, community members and other stakeholders within the Club/team, with guidance from key members of staff including the Chief Commercial Officer. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Coordinate Club led community projects such as the Knights' school and charity partner programs;
- Work in partnership with internal stakeholders to coordinate player engagements that support the Club's community, marketing and sponsorship activities;
- Administer requests for donations received from the community;
- Coordinate game day community activities including the 50:50 Charitable Raffle, mini league and special game day experiences as directed; and
- Understand and support the delivery of actions contained within the Knights' Reconciliation Action Plan.

**About you**
- An understanding of the sport of Rugby League and an appreciation for the ability of sports people to be positive role models within their communities;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to problem solve and manage diverse stakeholder relationships;
- Strong organisation, time management and project management skills;
- Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal;
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office at an intermediate level;
- An understanding of contemporary social and societal issues, particularly in the areas of health and wellbeing, education, and Indigenous, and the role sport can play in tackling these issues;
- An understanding of best-practice delivery of community programs in a contemporary Australian sports setting, be it at Club, governing body, semi-professional or community level;
- Deep knowledge and interest in the non-profit and community sector;
- Experience working within Secondary and Primary School settings with an understanding of developing and delivering programs that support student wellbeing; and
- An appreciation for and understanding of the important role First Nations peoples play in society today.
