Are you passionate about strategic communication and community connection? As Communications and Strategy Lead (Mayor's Office), you'll shape how the Mayor engages with the Lake Macquarie community, media and key stakeholders.

With your experience and insight into the local media landscape, you'll lead targeted communication strategies, working closely with internal teams and Council's Communications unit. You'll support public engagement, media relations and prepare the Mayor for key appearances – building trust and elevating Council initiatives.

You're a strategic thinker with a strong foundation and significant experience in communications, marketing, or public relations. You bring a deep understanding of media strategy – knowing how to shape narratives, manage reputational risk and leverage media opportunities.

You know how to position a spokesperson effectively, respond to emerging issues, and maximise media opportunities across print, broadcast, and digital channels. You bring a collaborative spirit and a flexible work ethic, capable of managing multiple priorities independently. Your experience in leading projects, solving problems, and providing high-level advice ensures you can support the Mayor effectively. If you also understand the nuances of working in a publicly accountable setting, that's a bonus we value.

Competitive salary from $62.66 to $72.83 per hour plus 12% superannuation (equivalent to $114,363 to $132,908 full time per annum).
