Canteen Coordinator - Fulltime - school term time only

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Canteen Coordinator to lead the daily operations of our vibrant school canteen. This is a dynamic role, suited to an individual who is passionate about food, outstanding service, and fostering a positive team environment.

About the Role

As the Canteen Coordinator, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of our school canteen. You will lead a small team in preparing and serving meals and snacks to students, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include managing stock, maintaining strict hygiene standards, coordinating rosters, overseeing budgets, and contributing to school events when required.

This is a full‑time, ongoing position during term time only. You will be stood down without pay during student vacation periods. There may be opportunities for additional paid casual work during school holidays, by mutual agreement.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the day‑to‑day operations of the school canteen

- Prepare and serve food in accordance with hygiene and safety regulations

- Maintain a clean, well‑organised, and efficient kitchen and service area

- Coordinate staff rosters and daily task delegation

- Manage inventory, place supply orders, and monitor canteen budgets

- Reconcile daily sales, including cash handling and online ordering systems

- Provide catering support for school events as required

- Promote customer service excellence and friendly engagement with the school community

Key Selection Criteria

- Proven experience in a food service leadership role (School environment preferred)

- Strong organisational and time‑management skills

- Demonstrated understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to work independently and efficiently while leading a small team

- Commitment to supporting a positive school culture in line with Christian values

Required Qualifications

- Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain

- Current Working with Children Check (NSW)

- Current First Aid Certificate (or commitment to obtain upon appointment)

Mandatory Criteria

The applicant must have or be able to obtain prior to commencing work, a current Working with Children Check. The applicant will need to have a current First Aid Certificate, or the school can arrange for one to be completed.
