People and Culture Manager

**The Opportunity**

Work alongside the CEO and senior leadership team to guide best practices in People & Culture across our poultry operations.

Darwalla has mature processes and systems, so this role is an opportunity to put your HR experience to good use to promote and elevate Darwalla’s purpose to help ‘feed Queensland and beyond, by doing things the right way’.

Lead a small HR team of two, who support our 200 employees across the full employee lifecycle, including the IR side of payroll.

The role will have full accountability of all people activities and will provide advice and support for all people-related activities. Industrial relations and compliance with relevant legislation is required to maintain a successful business and culture. Workforce planning experience is highly desirable.

This is a permanent full-time salaried role working 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based in Mt Cotton in the Redlands, with occasional travel to visit our sites on the Southern Darling Downs. We are family-friendly & flexible where it works for both parties. This position will become vacant due to impending retirement, so a hand-over will be available.

**About You**

You will have at least 5 years proven people experience and will be keen to 'put it all together' in practice.

You will be down-to-earth and be able to influence and connect with a wide range of great people from different cultures and backgrounds.

You will be positive and proactive, with a hands-on can-do attitude. As the leader of our people, it is important you are visible, so you will be willing to be onsite at Mt Cotton more often than not. You will also be willing to travel to visit our sites and farms, including overnight stays at our new office and accommodation in Allora.

You will have an appreciation for agriculture and animals, but for biosecurity reasons, you are unable to keep chickens or birds (of any kind), nor pigs at your home.

**You will ideally have**:

- 5 years experience in HR/P&C in an agricultural or manufacturing organisation.
- Proven experience in HR activities and the ability to navigate HR platforms and systems (we use ConnX and Micropay).
- Experience in workforce planning
- Proven leadership experience, good EQ and the ability to positively influence a team.
- Have genuine care for people and the desire to champion culture, inclusion, diversity and engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge and experience of Australian employment legislation, ER, remuneration and benefits.
- The ability to lead discipline proceedings and investigations through to resolution.
- Proven experience in performance management to encourage the development of our employees.
- The desire to work together with Learning and Development on leadership development, capability improvement and succession planning.
- The ability to interpret industrial instruments and legislation to provide timely advice to support leaders and employees.
- The ability to support by coaching and providing advice to a wide audience in a positive manner.
