**About the Role**

Reporting to the Operations Manager - Festivals, the Operations Executive - Screen Festival is responsible for the operational and logístical delivery of the SXSW Sydney Screen Festival, including 90+ screenings and 45+ industry events across diverse venues. The role manages production, technical delivery, scheduling, and budgets in coordination with suppliers, contractors, and venue partners. Internally, it supports key functions such as accessibility, staffing, signage, ticketing, and hospitality. Ideal for a screen industry enthusiast with strong operational skills and a passion for fast-paced, world-class events.

**Requirements**:
**What does a day in the life look like?**
- Support the Operations Manager - Festivals in delivering a seamless Screen Festival experience for talent, distributors, and attendees.
- Assist with planning and executing all operational elements on time and to a high standard.
- Coordinate procurement and logistics, including venue hire, technical production, and staffing needs.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external partners, ensuring smooth delivery of screenings and events, while managing scheduling, approvals, and WHS compliance.
- Build strong relationships with SXSW Sydney stakeholders to drive collaboration and high-quality outcomes.
- Assist in tracking budgets, managing invoices, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Monitor supplier compliance with health and safety requirements across all onsite operations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting best practices in festival planning and delivery.

**About you**

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- Minimum 4 years of experience in event operations, ideally in film festivals or live entertainment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven experience in large-scale event procurement and logistics coordination.
- Ability to negotiate and contract suppliers and contractors effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and quickly resolve logístical and operational challenges.
- Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of event planning and execution.
- Knowledge of risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and WHS compliance.
- Experience in managing large teams of event staff and volunteers.
- Highly organised, with a talent for managing complex spreadsheets and project plans.

**Desirable Skills and Experience**
- Experience in film festivals and / or cinema operations
- Understanding of film screening technical requirements
