We have an exciting opportunity for a Communication Officer to join our Team.
Working in our high-performing Destination, Communication and Customer Experience Unit and as a business partner to Council services, your role will be to inform, educate and engage the Tweed community and our staff so they get the most out of Council programs and services.
**About the role**:
We are looking for an experienced team player who can use their visual and written communication and storytelling skills to create effective content, in plain language, for a range of audiences in traditional, social and digital channels.

- **We are seeking**:
- demonstrated and relevant industry experience in a similar role
- a visual communicator and storyteller, with an ability to write in plain language for different audiences and channels
- a willingness to collaborate, with a flexible approach and work outside of hours on occasions
- demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate communications plans/projects
- demonstrated ability to produce innovative and creative promotional and marketing solutions to promote services and programs

**Essential**:
- Demonstrated and relevant industry experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, delivering and evaluating effective, creative and innovative communication and marketing campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience as a visual communicator and story-teller through the production of digital or graphically designed content such as video, audio/podcasts, infographics for social and digital communication channels.
- Demonstrated ability to write in plain language for different audiences and channels including publications, online, news and creative writing.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating events.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills to effectively influence, negotiate objectives and outcomes and resolve conflict.
- High level visual and verbal communication skills to effectively present and engage with public audiences/groups and design visually appealing presentation materials.
- High level ability to produce documents in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and the Adobe Creative Suite.
- Current vehicle licence - Car.
**Desirable**:
- Degree or post graduate qualifications in relevant disciplines such as communications, marketing, public relations or journalism.
- Relevant experience working in a government or local government environment.
