**Who we are**
The Exports and Veterinary Service Division provides export inspection and certification services and develops strategies to gain, improve or maintain market access for a wide range of food, inedible products of animal origin, live animal and reproductive materials. It provides residue monitoring services to Australian primary industries and administers 40 tariff rate quotas for products to the European Union, United States of America, Indonesia and Japan. The division also includes the Codex contact point which coordinates technical input from both industry and government to develop Australia’s position on international food standards.

The Veterinary and Export Meat (VEMB) undertakes regulatory functions by providing inspection and certification for the export of meat, meat products and the import and export of live animals and reproductive material in order to meet importing country requirements and Australian legislative requirements.

The Workforce Strategy and Regulatory Culture section is responsible for developing workforce strategies and supports good regulatory culture and practice by aligning the branch’s planning and workforce management to departmental and APS strategies.

**The Job**

The specific duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

- engaging and collaborating across the division, department and with industry
- organising and coordinating stakeholder and staff engagement forums
- drafting and coordinating content for stakeholder communications (newsletters, social media)
- supporting the ongoing implementation of change projects and the Sustainable Workforce strategy
- preparing correspondence, written reports and briefing as required
- divisional and team support, including support with analysing, interpreting, evaluating, and reporting on matters related to the division
- supporting administration functions for the team as required
- collecting and assessing feedback to identify gaps or improve products or delivery
- monitoring, measuring, and reporting on the effectiveness of communication and engagement activities and products.

**Knowledge and experience**
- Background in communications and/or marketing.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering information in a clear, informative and easy to understand way for target audiences.
- Communicating with influence: anticipating stakeholder needs, adapting to internal and external audiences and advocating confidently.
- Supporting strategic direction: harnessing information and opportunities, showing judgement, intelligence and common-sense to solve complex problems.

**Skills and capabilities**
- Be self-motivated and work with limited supervision within a large organisation.
- Be a good communicator with the ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships, and an ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external stakeholders.
- Have excellent writing skills for a range of products and content and the ability to tailor messaging to specific audiences based on their characteristics and profile.
- Have highly developed organisational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities, exercise judgement and respond quickly and flexibly to change.
- Negotiation skills.
