**Who are we looking for?**
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Recruitment and Community Engagement Officer to join Oodgeroo Unit, Indigenous Strategy, Chancellery Division.
The Recruitment and Community Engagement Officer is responsible for liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders to develop partnerships and work collaboratively with QUT staff and external stakeholders to improve community engagement and pathway for prospective student engagement. The position is hands-on and supports the Oodgeroo Unit’s recruitment, events, and school and community engagement activities.

**About the Chancellery Division**
Chancellery Division is responsible for strategy, including Indigenous strategy, government relations and policy, assurance and risk, international, marketing and communications, and business development. The Chancellery Division is led by the Vice-Chancellor and President.
**About the Oodgeroo Unit**
Established in 1991, The Oodgeroo Unit is QUT's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student success unit, providing admission pathways and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Oodgeroo Unit is responsible for and committed to ensuring pathways to higher education and the academic success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
This includes;
- assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to enter University
- providing our students with academic, personal, and cultural support throughout their degree
- providing a visible cultural presence at QUT
- engaging in community events, representing QUT
- promoting real-world opportunities for our students.
Our main administration office is located at Kelvin Grove, with facilities at our Gardens Point student centre. On both campuses, we have computer labs, places to study and work with tutors, and places to meet with other students. All Oodgeroo Unit staff are required to work across both campuses. The Oodgeroo Unit is situated within the Chancellery Division.
**What you need to succeed**
Your expertise and initiative, combined with your ability to work as an excellent team player will be vital to your success in this role.
You will demonstrate:
1. Education, training and/or experience equivalent to an undergraduate qualification in project management or community development and/or relevant experiences working in Education and Community Engagement roles.
2. Demonstrated experience in working with students through an educational lifecycle through developing and implementing pathways programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
3. Demonstrated analytical skills and innovative thinking, including collating and analysing information and making recommendations that support an organisation’s strategic business objectives.
4. Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues, internal and external clients, suppliers, and other staff within the University and the proven ability to deal with multiple tasks and establish priorities.
5. Demonstrated experience in engagement in a culturally appropriate manner adhering to community protocols with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, elders, and communities.
6. Events and project management experience with demonstrated experience in effectively utilising project management methodologies and understanding of a project lifecycle.
