Communications Manager - 6 months fixed term opportunity

The Retail Banking Services (RBS) Corporate Affairs team is part of the broader Corporate Affairs team. The team is responsible for delivering proactive, impactful and cohesive communications plans to protect and enhance the Group's reputation. For the foreseeable future, this role will 'flow to work' for the RBS Centre of Excellence (CoE), supporting leaders and teams across the retail bank.
The RBS CoE supports the Group Executive RBS and their leadership team with communications counsel and tactical support to deliver engaging internal and external communications. This work helps the bank deliver on its strategy and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
**Do work that matters**
As a Manager, Corporate Affairs, you will contribute to the creation and delivery of strategies and plans to support RBS's strategic priorities, as well as marketing campaigns and initiatives.
You will also contribute to the creation of compelling narratives, PR campaigns and strategies that support CBA and RBS. You will also work as part of the team on proactive, reactive and issues-based internal and external communications with the potential to impact CBA's reputation.
The position is a broad role which covers communication planning and implementation. Specific responsibilities include:
- contributing to corporate affairs issues management and proactive communication opportunities, and coordinating responses and actions, in collaboration with marketing and other corporate affairs teams
- developing creative assets for channels including earned and owned media, social media and internal channels to support broader campaigns
- creating frameworks for engagement of multiple stakeholders (government, industry and regulatory) by individuals and business units including scheduling, briefing and information sharing.
- developing and rolling out internal communications plans that align with CBA's purpose 'Building a brighter future for all'
- identifying potential and actual risks and operating issues that may impact RBS, and working with corporate affairs colleagues to manage the communications response
- managing team assets and planning documents including strategy documents, calendars, daily reporting, and RBS's content for our reputational impact database.
**We're interested in hearing from people who have**
- Proven experience in corporate or public affairs, communications, media or an agency role
- Exceptional written communication skills, media relations experience and a keen interest in and knowledge of public affairs.
- A passion for delivering effective communications, technical expertise and an ability to contribute to and execute strategic programs of work and tactical activities, and
- Risk Mindset - all CBA employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
- Tertiary qualification in communications, journalism, business, commerce or another relevant discipline.
