The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of Branch and Section**:
The Relocations Team is part of the Employee Conditions and Relocations Section within People Services Branch. The Branch drives the delivery of human resource (HR) Services for the Department, specifically in relation to:

- Culture, Diversity and Inclusions
- Employee Conditions and Relocations
- Learning and Development Services
- Rehabilitation and Compensation Management
- Workforce Capability.

Employee Conditions and Relocations Section is responsible for the provisions of non-monetary and monetary entitlements and employee benefits. Managing and facilitating primary and secondary reviews of actions and implementing outcomes, and providing advice and support in accordance with policy.

**About the role**:
The APS 5 HR Advisor, Overseas Relocations is responsible for facilitating pre-deployment requirements under the Professional Support Framework, and the provision of logístical support including passport/visa, travel and accommodation, interpret policy and guidelines related to short term and long term international postings

The APS 5 HR Advisor, Domestic Relocations is responsible for providing advice and guidance relating to domestic relocation entitlements and provisions under the Workplace Determination, and policy interpretation and advice relating to domestic relocations.

If you have a passion for working within a small team to assist staff throughout the Department with their relocation either onshore or offshore, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, and enjoy working in a fast and sometimes challenging environment. Ideally you will have:

- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to work flexibly within the team to manage work priorities including meeting conflicting deadlines, within a high passed environment
- Proven ability to maintain a positive team environment and to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Experience in coordination of travel related to logistics
- A passion for exploring and implementing innovative ideas
- Strong Customer Service skills.

**Specific Duties / Responsibilities**

APS 5 - HR Advisor
- Provide moderately complex policy guidance to stakeholders in line with the:

- Overseas Conditions of Service policy
- Workplace Determination 2019 and Domestic Relocations policy and
- SES Domestic Relocations framework
- Provide logístical HR support to internal and external stakeholders in accordance with relevant legislation, departmental policies and procedures, in particular:

- Undertake pre posting logistics for Offshore Long Term Posting including Cross postings; Short Term Missions including Airline Liaison Officers, Institutional Partnership Program (Port Moresby) and embedded positions in UK and USA
- Undertake deployment logistics for short term deployments to Christmas Island and Nauru
- Communicate with and provide advice and recommendations to a wide variety of stakeholders on moderately complex to complex issues
- Provide support to employees in relation to onshore and offshore relocation extensions; early cessations
- Liaise with Payroll Services in relation to payment of allowances
- Prepare and review Delegate approvals in line with the onshore and offshore policies:

- Domestic Relocations policy,
- Workplace Determination, Section 24(1) Determination
- Overseas Conditions of Service policy
- Act with integrity and in accordance with APS legislation in the course of HR management activities
