The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Cyber Risk Services Branch is part of the Technology and Major Capability Group, and is responsible for providing the Department's technical cyber security functions to ensure that cyber threats to the Department and the Australian Border Force (ABF) are identified and managed. The Branch provides the Identity Management and Access Control, Cyber Security Operations, and the ICT Certification and Assurance functions.

The position is available in the Cyber Prevention (CP) Section. CP is responsible for managing the cyber incident detection, response and recovery capability through continuous monitoring and reporting on cyber incidents and vulnerabilities against a changing threat environment.

**About the role**:
The APS5 Vulnerability Scanning and Reporting Analyst will be part of team responsible for undertaking work that is complex and technical in nature. This includes the maintenance, support, configuration and provisioning of vulnerability scanning tools and infrastructure.

The APS5 Vulnerability Scanning and Reporting Analyst will be required to build and maintain relationships with System, Technical and Business owners to manage the potential impact of vulnerability scanning on business systems.

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Assist in the maintenance, support, configuration and provisioning of vulnerability scanning tools and infrastructure
- Maintain and update documentation as required, including but not limited to Standard Operating procedures, technical documentation and end user work instructions
- Assist in the discovery and integration of new assets into scheduled Vulnerability Scans
- Assist in the production of reports containing vulnerability information for consumption by technical stakeholders and management
- Contribute to the development of Section work plans to meet team objectives.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:
Mandatory
- Extensive experience in ICT related fields
- Sound knowledge of expertise in at least one ICT Field e.g. Servers or Desktops
- Sound knowledge of Networking
- Sound knowledge of Vulnerability Management
- The ability to work with limited supervision
- Good communication skills.

Desirable
- Formal industry ICT qualifications
- Tertiary ICQ qualifications
- 5 or more years’ experience in ICT related fields
- System administration on Windows and Unix platforms
- Level of knowledge with Networking
- Prior experience as a Vulnerability Analyst
- Prior experience with managing staff.
