**The Role**
**APS 5 - Analysis Officer**
Responsibilities include:
- Identify potential gaps and issues in the current Defence regulatory framework;
- Make recommendations about best options in the context of consideration of broad government policies, Defence policies and the Seaworthiness outcome;
- Monitoring Defence’s legislative compliance, in the maritime context and identify trending issues and root causes;
- Assess potential impacts of changes to information including new research, ideas and industry practice;
- Explore possibilities and innovative alternatives and develop options for responses;
- Assist in identifying relevant stakeholders, sources of information and jurisdictional boundaries using existing processes, experience and the experience of others.
**APS 5 - Regulatory Response Officer**
The Regulatory Response Officer assists in assessing the impacts on Defence Maritime identified through internal, external incidents and events and through changes in legislation. They formulate responses through regulation or advocacy and are required to understand and assess the impacts of complex changes to the regulatory environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Responding to internal and external events which have relevance to the Defence maritime context;
- Assisting in the development of regulatory responses within the Defence maritime context for internal and external events;
- Assisting to liaise and advocate with internal and external stakeholders to align and achieve the intended Seaworthiness outcome.
**APS 4 - Administration Coordination Officer**
The Administration Coordinator will support the team to manage communication artefacts through updates to the internal information management system.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist website publishing, tracking design and development requirements;
- Supporting office coordination and engagement with internal resources.
**APS4 - Analyst Officer**
The Analyst Officer is part of a small team responsible for scanning for external, internal or legislative events and developments and conducting analysis in the Defence maritime context.
Responsibilities include:
- Scanning for internal and external events which have relevance to the Defence maritime context;
- Assist in analysing and reporting for regulatory responses;
- Assist in identifying relevant stakeholders, sources of information and jurisdictional boundaries using existing processes and resources;
- Manage the administration and coordination of information within the team.
**About our Team**
The Office of the Defence Seaworthiness Regulator (ODSwR) is an independent Defence Regulator. The ODSwR is tasked with managing the Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSwMS), a Defence-wide maritime risk management system. It does this through:
- Scanning the maritime environment and advocating on behalf of Defence;
- Providing a regulatory framework to manage maritime risks;
- Assuring maritime risks are proactively considered and controlled;
- Monitoring trends across the Defence Enterprise;
- Providing support to the Defence maritime community through education and advice.
**APS 5 - Analysis Officer & Seaworthiness Regulatory Response Officer**
- Strong research and analytic skills to define and identify relevant stakeholders and resources;
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to present logical arguments in regulatory context;
- Demonstrated ability to utilise strong communication skills in influencing key stakeholders and achieving strategic outcomes;
- Demonstrated ability to participate and support others to achieve team goals, share information and accommodate other working styles;
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and professionally within a small diverse team to support others in pursuit of team goals and information sharing;
- Experience in maritime, WHS regulatory or compliance frameworks is desirable.
**APS 4 - Administration Coordination Officer & Analyst Officer**
- Highly-developed verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly and logically;
- Demonstrated ability to engage and negotiate with a broad range of stakeholders;
- Well-developed prioritisation and scheduling skills;
