**The Role**
The Military Cyber Effects Development Lead will conceive, manage and undertake research and development projects concerning cyberwarfare, with a focus on applied science and technologies which confer military advantage through the generation of cyber effects and the projection of force through cyberspace. This is a key role in the delivery of cyberwarfare concepts and innovation to the ADF and broader Defence initiatives.
With broad direction and guidance the Military Cyber Effects Development Lead will:
- Plan, manage and undertake cyberwarfare science and technology projects to develop and deliver innovative, applied cyber effects concepts.
- In concert with partners, marshal the transition of cyber effects technology through to capability via production of effects concept prototypes and demonstrators, trials and field tests, and tooling.
- Build relationships and collaborate with the national and international information warfare community, including universities, industry and government, to enable and accelerate the delivery of applied military cyber effects research and development.
- Liaise with Defence, intelligence community, and cyber program stakeholders to understand their innovation, science and technology requirements and ensure that effects concepts and demonstrators are well-aligned to those needs.
- Coordinate and develop project teams to cultivate a highly productive and respectful workplace culture, promoting a shared sense of purpose, excellence, and commitment to deliver.
- Personally conduct and contribute high quality work in relevant topics, such as software and protocol reverse engineering, hardware and software defect and vulnerability research, advanced approaches to rapid software development (including automation), complex systems, embedded systems development, cyber systems security analysis, algorithm development, and construction of prototypes.
**About our Team**
DSTG Information Sciences Division (ISD) leads Australia’s science and technology research associated with threats in the information environment. The Division develops S&T to sense, interpret and shape the information environment to better understand, and assist in deterring and responding to these threats through science and technology. Within ISD, the Cyberwarfare Operations Branch (CWO) undertakes research and development to help Australian Defence develop an effective cyberwarfare capability that enables fight-through in a contested cyber environment. Within CWO, the Mission Protection and Effects (MPE) team delivers science and technology that enables the ADF to fight through attacks and execute missions in the face of contested cyber environments. MPE also conceives, researches, and demonstrates advanced concepts that leverage mission, doctrine, acquisition, and operational contexts to achieve military cyber effects.
