**The Role**
The Innovation and Strategic Research Branch seeks an enthusiastic, flexible and highly organised S&T manager to help shape program and impact analysis support for the branch. In this role you will assist in the efficient and effective management of the program and impact assessment of the NGTF and other innovation and strategic research programs.

The role will involve guiding a team responsible for curating and analysing data, reporting and coordination across a large and complex Defence innovation system to inform impact assessments and decision making. The role requires interaction with people and teams across DSTG and Defence more broadly, and with external partners and providers.

Duties will include:

- Coordinating across research groups and programs to enable delivery of the research program and to meet ministerial, regulatory and performance reporting requirements.
- Setting the appropriate direction of the team by clearly articulating strategic goals and objectives.
- Negotiating and influencing stakeholder priorities and expectations to meet their needs.
- Managing the analysis of research outputs (e.g. quality of publications) and program performance to inform program improvement measures.
- Interacting with and providing support to project managers and program leaders to ensure data accuracy and relevance to impact frameworks and reporting requirements.
- Enabling a pathway to impact for research programs by advising on appropriate metrics and KPIs, measuring performance and progress and advising on corrective measures.
- Interpreting and translating information between Defence partners, Australian Defence Force personnel, senior management and scientific teams to align strategic goals and project outcomes.
- Contributing to the production of high level advice on policy and governance to Ministers and Defence senior executives.
- Representing DST Group at various fora such as conferences and exhibitions to promote the program composition, outputs and benefits to the public.

Success in this role will require attention to detail, a desire to learn quickly, and the ability to remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a high tempo environment.

**About our Team**

The Innovation Branch is responsible for leading DSTG's contribution to the Department of Defence's Innovation programs. The Branch leads the management and assurance of an integrated strategic research program including the Next Generation Technologies program, the STaR Shot program and the Rapid Prototyping Initiative. The Branch also leads DSTG's engagement relating to innovation with the Defence Innovation Hub and Centre for Defence Industry Capability, the University sector, Publicly Funded Research Organisations and private research entities.
