**About the School Workforce Directorate**

The School Workforce Directorate develops and implements initiatives to support school workforce strategy and planning and leads the delivery of attraction and engagement programs for teachers. It manages the recruitment and placement process for all NSW Public Schools and oversees the department’s relationship with initial teacher education providers and National Education Standards Authority. It has a continuous improvement focus and transforms data into information and insights to create opportunity, understanding and system improvement.

**About the role**

The Assistant Program Officer supports the delivery and implementation of workforce initiatives and programs. This is an opportunity to bring your expertise to the Department of Education and join a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about public education and committed to delivering the Plan for NSW Public Education.
- Have relevant experience in providing administrative assistance to support teams’ projects.
- Demonstrate experience in conducting basic research and analysis of project data and assist in translating it into actionable insights.
- Provide guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders by responding to routine enquiries.
- Create and maintain project records.
- Be highly organised with the ability to tackle multiple competing priorities.
- Have experience supporting the preparation of project briefs and related documentation.

**Essential requirement of the role**
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

**Key knowledge and experience**
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
