Intern Energy Analyst

Cornwall Insight is a leading consultancy in the energy industry, and we are seeking for a motivated and curious Intern Energy Analyst to join our Intelligence and Subscriptions team with interest in renewables, flexibility, hydrogen, zero emissions transport and the energy transition.

More than anything we are looking for curious and passionate individual looking to solve the most pressing problems in the energy sector and assist our clients navigate the energy sector’s transition to Net Zero.

**Key Responsibilities**

You will support the intelligence and subscriptions team to deliver and develop analysis and convey insights to enhance clients’ decision-making to operate at the sector’s forefront. The team delivers regular reports to our valued customers on the ever-evolving Australian energy sector - you will never be bored

The role involves working with a range of sub-sectors in flexibility markets, including in battery storage, other storage technologies, zero emissions vehicles (ZEVs), hydrogen/ammonia, demand-side response, offtake contacting structures and trading strategies, entry market strategy and project due-diligence. The stakeholders; you will likely work with developers, owners/operators, investors, policy & regulatory bodies and trading/ optimisation companies.

This position involves working to tight timescales and multi-tasking to ensure all projects are managed to a high-quality standard. The work is diverse and allows you to be at the forefront of change in the energy sector.

**Example of projects include**:

- Energy policy: analysing the likely impact of different regulations and financial incentives on future investment.
- Regulatory change: advising our clients on new and changing regulation that can impact on flexibility, ZEVs and hydrogen assets and developing proactive solutions.
- Energy Market Perspective: A quarterly report on MLF and curtailment analysis, negative pricing, REZ capacity available, project risks and opportunities, etc.
- Research: analyse companies, trends, sectors, and industries.

**Skills Knowledge and Expertise**
- Educated to degree level - with a desire to use specialist expertise and knowledge to inform policy and regulatory developments.
- Energy market policy and regulatory understanding
- Interest in research, report writing and flexible assets.
- Excellent written English and Microsoft Package experience.
- Ability to write compressive reports targets for different audiences
- Ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information.
- Strong initiative, self-motivation, and time management skills.
- Proven track record in leading on multi-discipline projects.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure, working on several projects at any given time.
- Ability to understand and assimilate sales strategies and client propositions.
- Proactive and highly motivated to meet customer requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisation skills.
- Confident communicator, accustomed to engaging with stakeholders
