**Location - Parramatta with access to hybrid work arrangement**
**Employment type - Temporary full-time for up to 12 months, commencing on 1 July 2025 (35 hours per week)**
**Salary - $97,027.00 pa - $107,059.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading**
**Your role**
The Assistant Social Media Officer is a new role at the Department of Communities and Justice. The primary purpose of the role is to assist with community management across DCJ social channels, and wider social listening, to create a well informed and engaged social media community.
**What you’ll do**
The Social Media team are passionate about delivering impactful content that informs and engages the NSW community. The team works in a collaborative and purpose driven environment of transparency, accessibility, and service to the public. We foster a culture where everyone feels heard and valued.
- Take charge of the community management of DCJ’s five social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and TikTok), including moderation and preparing responses to comments, to create an exceptional audience experience and mitigate any potential reputational risks.
- Coordinate and manage the social listening tool to ensure the Social Media team is aware of community needs, emerging issues and can respond promptly.
- Assist with the development and implementation of delivering social media policy and safety sessions to DCJ staff.
- Gather and collate information for and prepare documentation and reports on social media performance to stakeholders, as well as make recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate and manage social content, link shortening and group inbox management.
**What we’re looking for**
- Has tech and tools know how, currently using a social listening tool and knows how to configure to filter out noise, track the right keywords and deliver clear actionable insights
- Is a master of tone and language with previous experience in Community Management and moderation. They can craft responses that are timely, empathetic, and consistent with NSW government tone of voice and values.
- Has Tertiary qualifications in relevant field and/or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Stakeholder management skills and ability to consult and liaise with people at all levels of the department.
