**About Our Team**

The Alfred Pathology Service (APS) is key to providing integrated and timely diagnostic capabilities as part of the largest public pathology laboratory network in Victoria.

Alfred Health supports the local community while addressing complex state-wide needs, including trauma, organ transplantation and HIV/AIDS diagnostics. APS conducts all pathology testing for multiple hospitals, offering a comprehensive range of services through five specialized units: Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology, Microbiology, and Human Molecular Pathology.

Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a partnership to deliver a pathology services at Western Health (WH), which includes, collection centres, branch laboratories at New Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital and point-of-care services. We are working in partnership to ensure we meet future demands and continue to provide high quality pathology services for our patients and the community across both health services.

**Position Summary**

The Quality Officer will work closely with the Quality Manager at Alfred Pathology Service (APS) at coordinating, implementing and evaluating all aspects of the SPS Quality Management System, quality improvement, quality assurance and accreditation related activities at Western Health (WH). The incumbent will ensure WH laboratories, point-of-care (POC) sites and collection centres comply with ISO 15189 and all other accreditation requirements, including but not limited to, National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA), National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC), National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS) standards, Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA), and Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) guidelines, as well as legislative and organisational quality frameworks.

**About You**

**_ Qualifications Required:_**
- Bachelor’s degree in science, Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Scientist) or recognised equivalent.
- Post-graduate training or qualifications in quality management.

**_ Experience and Skills Required:_**
- At least 5 years of pathology laboratory scientist experience and/ or extensive experience in a quality role within human pathology.
- Extensive experience using quality management software e.g., IQM (formerly Q-Pulse), FastTrack, RiskMan or similar software.
- An understanding of ISO 15189, NATA and NPAAC guidelines.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to function well in a team environment.
