**The Role**
Deputy Secretary Schools is looking for an enthusiastic, organised individual to work as their Executive Officer. In this position, you will work with the Executive Support Officer (ESO), Executive Assistant, and Deputy Secretary to facilitate the day-to-day business and strategic outlook of Schools Group.

**Skills and Capabilities**
Reporting directly to the Deputy Secretary for Schools, the Executive Officer plays a vital role in providing high quality strategic policy advice and support to the Deputy Secretary, other Senior Executives in the Group and the Group more broadly. A key feature of this role is to build strong and collaborative working relationships across the Group, broader department and with external stakeholders.

The Executive Officer will have primary responsibility for:

- Working closely with the Executive Support Officer and Executive Assistant to lead the delivery of a suite of support to the Deputy Secretary, including providing advice and support to the executive support team, anticipating and managing changing circumstances and priorities within the Group, sharing information and serving as a point of escalation;
- Providing sound and considered risk-based policy and strategic advice to the Deputy Secretary;
- Responding to and triaging urgent, complex or sensitive requests including requests from Ministers and other parliamentary and Cabinet processes;
- Providing strategic advice to Senior Executive within the Group to inform the development and delivery of key bodies of work;
- Working closely with divisional executive support teams and Departmental Liaison Officers to share information, delegate tasks and resolve issues;
- Supporting the workflow through the Deputy Secretary’s office and following up to ensure priorities and deadlines are met and monitor all compliance activities timeframes; and
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including representing the Deputy Secretary at meetings as required.
