Salary Range: $122,949 - $135,013 + Attractive Superannuation
The Executive Officer is able to demonstrate strong leadership and organisational change management abilities, sound judgement, flexibility to effectively operate in a variable, multi-task environment, high-quality written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of responsiveness to urgent requests.
The Executive Officer will work directly to a senior SES manager to support the effective operation of the business area and is required to work closely with Secretary, Deputy Secretary, members of the Executive and Senior Leadership Group and departmental staff to generate, coordinate and prioritise competing tasks with limited timeframes. The Executive Officer requires an ability to think strategically, develop productive working relationships across the Divisions, the Department and with external stakeholders, have a client focussed approach, high attention to detail and an ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
Due to operational needs this role is full time and predominantly office based.
**Duties**
- Provide high level executive support to a senior SES manager to ensure divisional deliverables an input are provided on time, to a high quality and with the required engagement and work area input.
- Coordinate the executive deliverables of the branch through engagement with Assistant Secretaries in the division and other business areas, including working closely and productively with other Executive Officers and Executive Assistants
- Preparation of briefing material to support the First Assistant Secretary and other members of the Executive as required, including talking points, presentations, briefing papers and ministerial correspondence.
- Manage the review and workflow of briefing material and other submissions through Microsoft Outlook and PDMS.
- Occupants may be required to hold and maintain an NV1 security clearance to access the departments secure network system (fortress and Cabnet) as well as handling other protected information.
- Coordinate the division’s input to key departmental deliverables including but not limited to budget, financial reporting, workforce management, annual report, corporate and business plans, internal audit, risk management and security management
- Undertaken secretariat or other record taking activities including the recording and tracking of action items for the division
- Undertake other work activities, and develop and implement work processes as required.
**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
**Notes**
Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to 18 months.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
