Our Tobacco and Vaping Branch is currently seeking multiple skilled and experienced Compliance Inspectors to undertake operations leading to the regulation of the tobacco and vaping industry in South Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a body of work where your skills as an inspector will be tested and developed. We also have an opportunity for a compliance inspector in our product safety and compliance team that we are looking to fill though this process.

As a Compliance Inspector, you will be tasked with conducting inspections, providing guidance, and offering educational assistance to licensees, traders, and consumers. You will also work closely with other government agencies and stakeholders in the conduct of your inspections. You will also be responsible for the collection, handling, processing and storing of evidence critical to investigations. A large part of the role involves field work, ensuring that compliance is achieved and maintained.

Key responsibilities:

- Conduct inspections at assigned premises to assess compliance with relevant legislation and orders.
- In accordance with relevant legislation and policies and procedures issue notices, expiations or take other compliance and enforcement action to address legislative breaches
- Ensure the appropriate handling, transportation, storage and destruction of evidence in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Contribute to investigative activities including conducting interviews, reviewing documents and collecting evidence
- Participate in taskforce operations, including with law enforcement agencies.
- Prepare reports in relation to trends or persistent non-compliance.
- Represent CBS in court matters and provide witness testimony We want to hear from you if you have:

- Experience undertaking compliance activities.
- Experience in gathering, handling and storing evidence.
- Experience in interpretation and administration of legislation.
- A strong ability to work under limited direction and use initiative and judgement where procedures are not clearly defined.
- Strong written communication skills in a regulatory environment.
- Experience in investigation interviewing techniques including facilitating formal interviews under caution. (desirable)
- Experience or tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline e.g., government investigations, law, accounting or commerce. (desirable)
