About the Opportunity
This is your opportunity to take part in the integral and politically sensitive work which contributes to the effective regulation of the casino and gambling industries in South Australia. The Casino & Gambling Inspector is a predominantly field-based role requiring shift work. The role involves conducting detailed inspections, gathering evidence and addressing non-compliance at licensed venues across the state, including the casino.
We would like to hear from you if you have experience in or significant knowledge of the casino or gambling industry, a proven ability to appropriately gather and store evidence, and an ability to interpret legislation. In this role, you will be responsible for undertaking compliance and enforcement activities that support the regulatory functions of Consumer and Business Services. This includes proactive inspection work, responding to non-compliance, and supporting investigations and enforcement outcomes across the industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting inspections at licensed gambling and casino venues across South Australia.
- Identifying and addressing legislative non-compliance through enforcement action.
- Educating licensees on their statutory obligations.
- Gathering, managing, and storing relevant evidence in line with procedure.
- Supporting investigations through interviews, evidence collection and report preparation.
- Representing CBS in court proceedings and liaising with regulatory and enforcement agencies.
- Preparing reports on trends or persistent non-compliance to inform broader regulatory action.
- Working independently under broad direction, including shift work and intrastate travel.

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver's licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
May be required to work according to a 7-day roster including nights, weekends and public holidays. Eligible to be appointed and exercise the powers and functions of an Authorised Officer or Inspector under relevant legislation.
