The Accounts and Payroll Officer will work closely with the Senior Accountant, Payroll to manage all aspects of payroll processing, including communication with outsourced payroll providers and internal agency staff. Additionally, this role will provide support to the Manager Corporate Accounting in areas such as accounts payable.

**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**:

- Process fortnightly payroll, ensuring accurate deductions, superannuation elections, leave records, and other administrative details are promptly updated and approved.
- Handle onboarding of new employees in payroll and other internal registers.
- Manage relevant paperwork and communicate changes in superannuation funds, home addresses, work schedules, and bank account details to the outsource provider.
- Handle payroll-related tasks for terminated employees.
- Process salary sacrifice paperwork.
- Maintain the self-service leave system, including processing reporting line and organizational changes.
- Calculate monthly salary, superannuation, annual leave, and long service leave provisions. Enter relevant general ledger entries.
- Prepare calculations and payments for the quarterly Board travel allowance.
- Assist with quarterly and annual reconciliations.
- Assist in completing payroll-related surveys and Senate estimates questions on notice.
- Support the preparation of budget estimate updates for the agency.
- Respond to ad hoc queries from People, Culture, Inclusion staff, and other internal teams.
- Accurately input invoices for all agency and non-investment manager Board-related invoices.
- Ensure precise GL information, including GST coding, cost allocation, and project costing.
- Match expenses against budgeted items as applicable.
- Assist with weekly and ad hoc payment runs.
- Address accounts payable vendor queries.

**Skills and Competencies**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting (preferable)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel)
- Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with others
- Experience in a payroll role
- Experience in an accounts payable role
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
- High attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines
