Billing Assistant

The Billing Assistant works closely with the Billing Supervisor to provide high level billing support and reporting services to the firm. Additionally, this role provides general finance assistance to the team.
The key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring billing procedures are followed, assisting with the development, improvement, and implementation of billing procedures
- Assisting with generation and circulation of billing lists for firm reporting standards
- Creation of new clients in the finance system
- General billing maintenance including time transfers and amendments to client/matter details
- Preparation of bills for specific clients and managing more complex bills
- Troubleshooting any billing issues experienced and liaising with the system provider where required
- Uploading bills into client e-billing platforms and ensuring requirements are maintained
- Assisting with training solicitors and secretaries on the billing process, including during induction
- Other general adhoc billing support and finance duties
The finance system used at Carter Newell is Aderant Expert.
**Essential Skills and Experience**:
To be successful in this role, you will have general office administration or finance experience, preferably in a professional services environment. You are comfortable working with the suite of Microsoft Office products and have a general understanding of billing and finance processes.
Your eye for detail is exceptional as well as your time management, planning and organisational skills. You have a proactive, positive and responsive “can do” approach, with the ability to learn/pick up things quickly. Your stakeholder management is top notch, you have highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport with internal clients.
