About the Role:

Tasked with primary billing-related functions for our clients, the Billing Officer is responsible for all end-to-end administration between health funds and doctor clients. This role requires an individual who is well organised, with sound communication skills, and be comfortable working in a detail-oriented role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake appropriate research on MBS, AMA, VWA and other relevant fee schedules and rules for the specialities you are required to bill
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a seamless billing experience for new and existing clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MBS item numbers, health fund policies, and compliance regulations.
  • Utilise multiple Practice Management Systems (PMS) to process billing efficiently.
  • Submit billing in accordance with the relevant schedule and rules
  • Report on billing metrics, claim rejection trends, collections performance, and compliance risks to management.

About You:

  • Proven experience in the medical billing or healthcare administration field.
  • Sound understanding of end-to-end medical billing process, with emphasis on health fund claims, rejections, and patient collections.
  • Experience managing healthcare claim rejections through to resolution
  • Adaptability across a range of Practice Management Systems (e.g., Shexie, Cliniko, Fydo, Genie, Gentu, Zedmed, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with privacy legislation, billing compliance standards, and data security practices in healthcare.
  • Proficiency in Excel and billing reporting tools.
