**Your role**

This position is a key support role in the running of the NSW Public Defenders Chambers. Public Defenders are statutory appointed barristers who provide legal representation to legally aided people charged with serious criminal offences. This role is responsible for the provision of advanced information technology and project management support; financial management, event coordination, and administrative and business support. The successful applicant will be required to supervise a team of Legal Support Officers to ensure high-quality, on the ground responsive support is provided, in a high pressure and fast paced environment, to contribute to the efficient operation of Chambers.

**What you’ll do**

As part of the Public Defenders Chambers, you will provide advanced multimedia and information technology support, as well as financial and administrative and business assistance to the senior legal team. You’ll manage the work allocation of Legal Support Officers (LSOs), ensuring high-quality service is provided and adherence to office protocols.

You will also:

- Provide information technology support to metro and regionally based barristers.
- Serve as the administrator for key electronic systems.
- Project manage the annual Public Defender Criminal Law Conference.
- Assist the Chambers Manager with various initiatives and projects.
- Maintain the office Procedure Manual to ensure it is current.

You will work as part of a dedicated team of professionals committed to excellence in legal services, fostering a collaborative and dynamic work culture in a fast-paced environment.

**What we’re looking for**
- Advanced information technology and administrative skills, preferably in a legal office or similar setting.
- Solid understanding of legal terminology and processes.
- Project management skills and experience
- Detail-oriented and adaptable, with a passion for providing exceptional support in a legal environment.
- National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
