The Department of Home Affairs is responsible for centrally coordinated strategy and policy leadership in relation to domestic national security arrangements, law enforcement, emergency management, counter-terrorism, social cohesion, the protection of our sovereignty, the integrity of our border and the resilience of our national infrastructure.

The Australian Border Force, an operationally independent body within the Department of Home Affairs, is Australia's frontline border law enforcement agency and Australia's customs service. The Australian Border Force's mission is to protect Australia's border and facilitate the legitimate movement of people and goods across it.

**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Section is responsible for supporting Australian Border Force (ABF) operations to ensure that the outcome of any port or infrastructure program/project is fit-for-purpose, and has a material effect and improved impact on ABF outcomes. ABF Ports and Infrastructure Capability Partnership (PICP) Section maintains oversight of in-flight projects and initiatives that will have an impact on ABF operational processes and acts as a conduit between the projects and Regional Commands. PICP manage engagement with stakeholders and address requirements and issues from a national perspective, whilst accommodating site-specific needs. PICP ensure all program/project artefacts align to the Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs) program governance framework.

**About the role**:
PICP is responsible for supporting the planning and development of new/redeveloping ports projects, and takes a lead role in the operational readiness testing of border operations at these ports. This is all achieved through extensive collaboration across the ABF and Department of Home Affairs, and engagement with other border agencies and the port operators. All our efforts are directed towards ensuring these ports meet our operational expectations.

Seeking officers with a security background, passenger and/or cargo clearance experience, along with project and programme management expertise.

**Specific duties/responsibilities**:

- Provide support and guidance for the multidisciplinary activities undertaken by the Section, including any Section administrative tasks
- Drive and supervise the best practice frameworks, standards and procedures (as applicable to program/project management) during the development of a capability
- Continually engaging with ABF Operations to confirm required outcomes
- Represent ABF Operations at project meetings.
- Act as a conduit between ABF Operations and internal and external stakeholders
- Engage other ABF Areas as required (i.e.) Port Operations Command, Enforcement Command & Operational Practices Command
- Provide support to the Superintendent and Commander, including the preparation of reports, submissions and Ministerial correspondence and briefings
- Represent the ABF at meetings and working groups and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and service providers.

**Role requirements/qualifications**:

- Project/Programme management skills or qualifications are desirable
- Experience in border and/or security also desirable.
