The Department of Home Affairs is a central policy agency, providing coordinated strategy and policy leadership for Australia's national and transport security, federal law enforcement, criminal justice, cyber security, border, immigration, multicultural affairs, emergency management and trade related functions.
The Department of Home Affairs includes the entirety of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. It also includes national security, emergency management and criminal justice functions from the Attorney-General's Department; the Office of Transport Security from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development; multicultural affairs from the Department of Social Services; and the counter-terrorism coordination and cyber security policy functions from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
**Overview of the Branch and Section**:
The Australian Border Force (ABF) is an operationally independent body under the Home Affairs Portfolio. The ABF is responsible for operational activity that supports the Australian Government’s border protection, investigations, compliance, detention and enforcement functions.
Within the ABF, Air and Marine Capability Branch (AMCB) is responsible for the capability management of a fleet of air and marine surveillance, patrol and response assets. Our capabilities include ocean going patrol boats, shallow water and coastal response vessels and contracted aircraft. AMCB operates in a complex, challenging and changing environment that is characterised by a continual high tempo of operations.
The Assistant Contract Managers support various sections. The Marine Logistics and Aviation Section has responsibility for managing a range of complex, high risk high value (HRHV) contracts to provide logistics support to the ABF fleet, and to manage aviation and surveillance capabilities.
**About the role**:
The Assistant Contract Manager contributes to the management of high value and complex maritime, aviation, and marine logistics contracts to support the ABF conduct border protection activities. You will be supported to develop your knowledge and experience through training and mentoring. The position in based in Canberra, and supports national service delivery.
**Specific duties/responsibilities**:
- Support the management of high risk high value Air and Marine Capability contracts to deliver surveillance and response capabilities for the ABF
- Contract administration
- Monitor and provide reports on contract deliverables and financial management
- Analyse and reconcile monthly service level agreement reports
- Engage with colleagues across the Department, ABF and other agencies/stakeholders as required, to support delivery of contracted services
- Interpret and analyse contract provisions, policies and procedures
- Provide secretariat and governance functions for various contracts
- Willingness to undertake training and/or relevant qualifications.
**Role requirements/qualifications**:
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in contract management and contract administration/or ability to demonstrate transferable relevant experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Possess or able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
