**Job Title: Product Designer**

Contract: Initial 12-month contract with possible extensions

Location: Brisbane CBD, flexible working arrangements on offer

**Job Summary**
- Our client's operation is going through significant changes over the next four years. This is an opportunity for a designer to work on some iconic digital products which will support a large population of our communities for their day-to-day life.
- The development of new products can generate significant interest and feedback. The final products will reflect the best outcomes for the communities and operational considerations.
- The program goal is to develop a pipeline of improvements that are researched, tested, trialed, and refined. This reduces risk for major projects by ensuring all elements are established and proven prior to major changes to infrastructure and services.
- There will be a strong focus on digital products during testing as they can be revised quickly and efficiently. Once they are finalised, they can be rolled out in physical formats.
- The designer will need to have strong interpersonal skills and be able to confidently deal with a range of stakeholders. They will need to be able to discuss the merits of various design choices and be part of the process designed to achieve a high level of consensus.
- The designer is expected to work closely with staff within the Marketing and Communications team, to ensure that all products are consistent with the brand and contribute to the further integration of the brand.
- The contractor should have significant expertise in user focused design and should have demonstrated experience in iterating designs to reflect feedback and observed behavior. It is expected that the Contractor will participate in exercises where products are deployed in the field, and customers who use them are then intercepted to understand if it met their needs.

**Key responsibilities**
- Work to clarify requirements for products.
- Manage the process of developing drafts for feedback from stakeholders.
- Articulate and justify the design decisions that were made when balancing competing objectives.
- Identify opportunities for product development to meet the strategic objectives.
- Perform user interface analysis and design activities (e.g. scoping concept design, test strategies, user acceptance studies, and behavioural monitoring) during the solution lifecycle.
- Utilise user-centred design techniques, tools, and standards to deliver successful business outcomes.
- Define, plan, and justify (in UI terms) projects to meet business requirements.
- Consult, liaise and establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to investigate and define project deliverables and ensure project outcomes can be delivered within the current business environment.
- Provide advice to internal and external stakeholders regarding UI project deliverables, to ensure recommended solutions reflect their requirements where possible.
- Foster open communication and cohesion within the team and proactively encourage team initiatives especially in business improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate and conduct workshops and interviews with users and key stakeholders.
- Exhibit organisational and planning skills including prioritisation and time management skills.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, to improve legibility products with a focus on the customers' user experience.
- Design a range of digital products for customers.
- Conduct usability testing to refine and improve products.
- Work with stakeholders to explore design alternatives to build consensus

**Selection Criteria**

**Design Experience and User Focused Design Capability**
