Product Designer

We’re looking for an up & coming Product Designer with a passion for solving problems and creating engaging experiences to join our team.

You’ll be working on a new product to help tertiary education students navigate their education, from class scheduling, to clubs and societies and advice on starting their career. You’ll have a real impact as a part of a start-up style team, building a brand-new product from the ground up.

You’ll be joining a high-performing team, that has many opportunities for long-term career development & a team that is ready to help grow & build next generation products.

You'll ideally have a recent qualification, or have come from a traditional graphic design background and looking to move into product design. You will be comfortable with always asking the “why” behind design decisions while being hands on in the tools.

**Responsibilities**:

- In collaboration with the Product Owner and BA, identify user insights through research methods such as; interviews, workshops, surveys, competitor analysis and usability testing.
- Participate as an active contributor to an interdisciplinary team that includes designers, product owners, business analysts and developers.
- Prepare and facilitate workshops, sketching sessions and reviews with your team as well as other stakeholders across the business.
- Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and design rationale to internal and external stakeholders.
- Accept feedback gracefully and incorporate user testing results back into your solutions.
- Actively participate in design critiques.
- Contribute to our component library as we build out our design system

**Requirements**:

- Takes initiative and comfortable with challenging the status quo
- Excellent communicator and team player.
- Willing to push the boundaries and not afraid to try innovative solutions.
- Experience with design tools. We use Figma, FigJam and Maze.
- Attention to detail
- Experience working with developers to implement features (highly valued - not necessary).
- No ego. We’re an easy going team and happy to help each other whenever needed. Unless of course we’re playing Settlers of Catan, then it’s each for their own.
