**Your new role**

Employee Relations (ER) provides specialist advice, support, coaching and consulting services in the areas of Industrial Relations (IR), frontline HR support to managers, case management, organisational redesign as well as remuneration and benefits. The ER team consists of HR Delivery, IR and Advice, Governance and Improvement, and Remuneration and Benefits.
The available role is in our HR Delivery team, which provides expert consulting, coaching and case management support to the organisation’s leaders in areas such as poor performance, misconduct, absenteeism, employee grievances and work redesigns.
The Principal Officer, Employee Relations is a stimulating and rewarding leadership position where you will primarily be responsible for managing several employee-relations specialists to ensure the team is successful in providing the wider organisation with positive solutions across a broad range of employee related issues. In this role, you will use your leadership skills and specialist knowledge to support, coach and develop the teams’ capacity in delivering effective services to key stakeholders within Council. You will oversee the effective management of a varied caseload and provide guidance on complex issues.
Similarly, you will also make use of effective relationship-building skills to partner closely with other senior leaders and key stakeholders across the organisation. In an expert consultative capacity, you will develop and implement innovative strategies to pro-actively manage employee related challenges, trends and issues.
**What you'll need to succeed**

- demonstrated experience in Employee Relations with the ability to research, analyse and provide solutions for complex issues
- a solid understanding of industrial principles with strong case-management experience
- evidence of strong leadership skills and ability to mentor, guide and develop team members
- a strategic and pro-active approach to working, with a focus on business improvement and building capability
- stakeholder management skills with a demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong partnerships
- possession of tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to the position such as business, law, commerce, or human resources is desirable.
- formal experience in a similar team-leadership or people management position is desirable
