About the role
The Technical Team Leader - Platform Engineering is a diverse role and incorporates the leadership of our national Platform Engineering team of technical support professionals. This role will ensure we meet our contracted deliverables and SLA’s are achieved across technology towers of responsibility. You will drive best practice and continually improve technical experience leveraged across Australia while driving high levels of customer satisfaction. The role is responsible for team utilisation, employee engagement and overall team performance. You will use your technical expertise to inspire the team, lead by example and assist with technical escalations. Your strong skills as a technical escalation point will provide confidence to our customers, and our staff.
What you'll do
As a leader you’ll be responsible for implementing an “automation first” culture, lead the ongoing usage of these technologies and lead the development of future thinking strategies and roadmaps for Technology Operations that aligns with Datacom Group strategy while meeting current and future customer requirements. You will work closely with our Customer Delivery Organisation to form a unified service bridge between our customers and our staff. You will implement Australia wide strategies within the customer base to ensure standardisation of services across the country. You will also work closely with your peers who are delivering associated services to our customers. A dynamic role, you will retain your abilities as a ‘hands on’ technical leader whilst also managing your team.
As Technical Team Leader you'll be responsible for establishing and maintaining operational excellence in the technologies supported by your team. These will be in the broad areas of:
- Platform Engineering (Linux/Unix, AWS/Azure, VMware and equivalent services)
- Automation (Ansible/AWX, Puppet)
- Version control (git/gitlab)
- Agile Operations
- Business Continuity
Knowledge and skills in the below technologies is desirable but not mandatory:
- Orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Solaris Zones/Domains
- Oracle OVM/OLVM
**You'll also be responsible for**:
- Providing direction to the team, and promoting personal and professional development
- Resource management of people, assets, and projects
- Setting expectations with customers and account teams for delivery of services
- Planning, estimating, prioritisation, delegation, and monitoring of activities ensuring escalation occurs when required.
- Reporting of SLA performance
- Ability to stand in for peers and managers if required
What you'll bring
To be successful in this role your technical background will include experience with the following:
- Previous Team Lead or Technical Lead roles, or demonstrable capability as a Senior Technical Escalation resource;
- People Management and/or HR responsibilities;
- Proven track record of certifications;
- Excellent customer relationship building skills;
- Ability to demonstrate proactiveness around improvements to customer service outcomes.
