Business Onboarding plays an integral part in the Financial Crime Team, focusing on high-risk onboarding at Great Southern Bank. The team focuses on high-risk onboarding activities including business profile creation, screening for politically exposed persons (PEPs) and sanctions, and other screening, such as for mule and identity takeover indicators.

High risk profiles correctly identified and managed at onboarding creates a foundation of effective financial crime controls across the lifecycle of a customer. As an Onboarding Advisor you will be responsible for creating new business profiles accurately to satisfy our AML/CTF obligations and other requirements. As part of this role, you will contribute to critical financial crime defences in the identification of higher risk customers such as politically exposed persons while also protecting our institution from misuse of our products and services by bad actors. This role will also involve the identification and contribution of intelligence to the Financial Crime community.

Ultimately, this role ensures Great Southern Bank’s compliant customer growth, while contributing to the disruption of financial crime. This role requires a highly attentive and analytical individual who is driven to identify opportunities for and to deliver continuous improvements, contributing to a culture of disciplined execution and operational excellence across Financial Crime.

**About you**
- Experience in the Financial Services, with exposure to onboarding, customer maintenance or financial crime considered desirable;
- Existing understanding of, or ability to rapidly acquire understanding of, financial crime risks across the financial services industry including Fraud and AML/CTF compliance;
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills with the ability to articulate business problems and requirements, backed up by data, to stakeholders from a range of backgrounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving, agile environment, including autonomously with mínimal supervision;
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. AML/CTF, fraud, accounting, computer science, finance, business, law, IT, investigations, criminology) from a recognised tertiary institution, or studying towards the same.
- Committed to a high level of attention to detail to deliver quality work;
- Self-motivated and driven to achieve and identify opportunities for improvement;
- A team player who is consistently genuine and transparent in how you show up.
- An effective communicator, negotiator and problem-solver who thrives under pressure.

**Your responsibilities**
- Create new business profiles in accordance with internal and external requirements within service level agreements;
- Liaise with frontline teams to assist customers complete business profile creation, providing training from time to time;
- Identify and contribute to continuous process improvement for operational efficiency and optimal customer experience.
- Conduct name screening to identify high-risk PEPs and sanctions prior to onboarding a new customer;
- Follow escalation guidelines where matches are identified to mitigate and manage risks.
- Review new profiles for high-risk attributes to mitigate onboarding of mule and identity takeover (IDT) profiles;
- Identify onboarding trends indicative of organised crime activity;
- Contribute intelligence relating to mule and IDT trends to the division and the wider Financial Crime community.
