Overview

The Software Development Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of the software development activities of the Transaction Payment portfolio. Working closely with the various technical team leaders, business analysts and product owners within the portfolio you will ensure the development teams are delivering to their full capability.

You will be responsible for ensuring on time and on budget delivery of the portfolio’s projects with mínimal customer dislocation, collation and reporting on the development metrics and KPI’s

The position is also expected to collaborate across the organization, working closely with our Product team to help realize their vision and deliver product roadmaps whilst working in collaboration with our Project Management, Architectural and Operations teams to deliver as one.

**Responsibilities**:
Essential responsibilities include:

- Enhancing our engineering capabilities and team culture
- Working closely with product and project teams in an agile environment in order to ensure outcomes meet our organizations and customer expectations
- Taking ownership of the Agile Delivery metrics with responsibility for meeting these metrics
- Proactively identifying issues and recommending/implementing actions to mitigate risks and improve delivery capability/timeliness
- Managing, leading, coaching and mentoring members of the software development teams
- Driving best practices, thinking and philosophy across all software development team members
- Effectively integrating new hires, offshore teams and external developers into our software development teams
- Amplifying our team culture of taking initiative, delivering open and honest communication, being curious and a constant learner.

**Qualifications**:
Experience/Qualifications:

- Demonstrated Tertiary qualifications in Technology (essential)
- 10 years hands-on, software engineering experience
- 4 years of experience leading, managing and growing engineering teams
- Previous experience driving software development strategy
- Demonstrated ability to work up, down and across a matrixed organization
- An attitude of ownership, accountability, responsibility, innovation and results
- Hands on experience with various aspects of people leadership including; performance management, mentoring and coaching
- Experienced with Agile software development as well as more traditional methodologies
- Exposure to large scale, web-based SaaS systems development (ideal).

Education/Certifications:

- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar relevant field, alternatively 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Certified ScrumMaster.
- Tertiary qualifications in computer science, business or management will be looked upon favorably.
