**About the role**:
The scope of this role sits within Coles Group Limited, supporting all brands across the Coles Group Portfolio (i.e. Express, Liquor, Coles Services, Distribution Centres, RROA, Chef Fresh and Supermarkets). The Coles Group consists of 120,000 employees spanning across Australia. Reporting into the Payroll Compliance Manager, the Payroll Analytics & Performance Lead will identify and drive improvement opportunities across the internal and external payroll landscape through data analytics modelling and other related tools.

The primary objective of the Payroll Analytics & Performance Lead is to drive continuous improvement across the payroll landscape with a focus on data lead decisions which will drive process optimisation, strong controls and a reduction in the overall risk profile.

Other ways to make an impact
- Review data (e.g. query data, errors) to identify opportunities for improving payroll outcomes (through Central Payroll or Outsourced), and to utilise current data analytics tools and modelling to enable data driven decision making.
- Design and execute optimisation solution plans to address the root cause of payroll performance issues
- To explore and execute new and creative ideas to continuously evolve and improve the payroll landscape through robust Payroll data modelling and data analytics practices
- Manage identified payroll performance risks accordingly and report / escalate risks to appropriate stakeholders as required
- Review payroll performance risks and prioritise high risk issues to enable efficient and effective resolution
- Own relationships with internal stakeholders to understand pain points across the end-to-end payroll process and actively identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies
- To build and maintain deep knowledge of the payroll and T&A landscape (e.g., systems, processes and controls) to enable understanding of interdependencies across these elements

**About you and your skills**:
We’re looking for an analytics and insights lead with strong understanding of payroll operations or compliance environment. You are passionate about data informed decision making and using insights to drive continuous improvement.

You’ll also need
- Proven experience in a payroll processing environment in a complex retail environment
- Exceptional knowledge of data analytics process, from data understanding, cleansing, transformation, interpretation and data storytelling and presentation
- Proven experience using the following tools - Alteryx, ACL, R, Python, Qlik Sense, Power BI and SQL Server
- A problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset with strong understanding and experience with data analytics tools
- Demonstrated experience in interpreting complex industrial instruments including Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements (EAs)
- Experience in identifying and resolving compliance risks and adopting a continuous improvement approach
- High attention to detail, organisation and planning skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong stakeholder skills with the ability to partner and influence at all levels and communicate complex, technical information to a range of stakeholders in an easy-to-understand manner
