**The Role**

One of the Communications Signal Processing (CSP) group’s activities is to develop a capability to automatically analyse RF environments to obtain an understanding of the user communications traffic for situation assessment. Modern RF emitters occupy the full RF spectrum and operate in congested RF environments. Therefore, it is critical to develop automated robust and high performance algorithms that leverage communications knowledge, signal analytics and data science approaches.

**About our Team**
The role is in the Communications Signal Processing (CSP) group that conducts R&D in physical & cross-layer processing of communication signals. Its focus is to provide RF situational awareness and pattern-of-life associated with devices operating in a congested and contested electromagnetic environment. Capabilities are prototyped and benchmarked against representative datasets before product delivery.

The group is part of the Cyber Signals and Intelligence (CSI) branch that develops concepts, techniques and technologies for understanding cyberspace and the electromagnetic spectrum, supporting the intelligence and electronic surveillance needs of ASD and the ADF.

CSI branch collaborates with a wide range of research organisations both nationally and internationally; including the International Intelligence community.

The CSP group and most of the CSI branch staff are located at the DSTG Edinburgh site.
