**The Role**
The APS 6 General Asset Assurance Team Leader - SA will undertake essential functions to ensure the efficient execution and management of the Defence agreed General Asset stocktake program within the South Australia region. The APS 6 will manage a small team; provide support to colleagues in other regions and to the Headquarters element within Canberra as required.

The role within the Directorate of Defence Stocktaking requires an enthusiastic, self-starter who has the ability to contribute to all aspects of stocktake activities across Defence using systems and tools in accordance with policy and procedures. The incumbent of this position will be required to undertake frequent multi-day local and regional travel, and occasional interstate travel.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

- Lead the planning, scheduling and reporting activities for the stocktake program
- Conducting stocktaking and assurance activities in field training areas, warehousing or base environments
- Performing investigations and stocktake remediation/reconciliation duties
- Reviewing and updating policy, work practices and procedures as required
- Attending and contributing to various working groups, forums and meetings
- Performing general administrative tasks.

You will possess well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, for engaging key stakeholders through liaison, negotiation and consultation; and will develop high level reports for senior Defence committees, conduct analysis of data, maintain registers, identify opportunities for continuous improvement and is able to adapt to the needs, tasks and responsibilities of the Directorate.

The position will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence’s business objectives.
