**Your new company**
This Government Department is working at the forefront of delivering a high level of policies and programs to the public contributing to their health and well-being. This branch has policy responsibility for a wide range of health service improvement functions including general practice, primary health care, telehealth, and a number of specialist disciplines. The branch works to support the implementation of changes within these policy arena’s. The branch also has an overarching responsibility for progress assurance that aims to align these services with contemporary clinical evidence with the goal of improving health outcomes for patients. As such, they are seeking a high performing APS6 policy officer to support the section who will hold an array of responsibilities.

**Your new role**
You will be brought on board to support the branch to critically review and analyse the state of current policy with the aim to develop and drive new ideas to improve on individual’s experience with health products, service delivery and overall patient experience. The core focus of these programs will be considering how Medical services can be aligned with contemporary clinical evidence and improve health outcomes for all. Prior knowledge or background in health services, science or a related field would be highly beneficial. This role will include drafting ministerial briefs, correspondence, research and new policy proposals. As this role will involve liaison with other officers within the Department, strong coordination and highly developed written and verbal communication skills are a must.

**What you'll need to succeed**
To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with exceptional policy development or program management skills. As well as this, you will have experience with:

- Government writing, including the ability to develop high level briefs, and general correspondence.
- Ability to break down and assess complex work processes.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills of a high order and ability to work in a small but busy team.
- Manage effective working relationships with internal staff, senior executives and external stakeholders throughout relevant jurisdictions and the Commonwealth.
