This Government Department is working at the forefront of delivering a high level of policies and programs to the public contributing to the agriculture, food and forestry industries.

This section works with trading partners to improve and maintain market access through trade.

**Your new role**

We are after a resilient and flexible contractor with the ability to exercise sound judgement and manage competing priorities.
- Working on topical issues, critical for future exports, liaising, negotiating and effectively communicating with Australian and overseas government agencies, industry bodies, and other internal and external stakeholders in support of technical market access.
- Providing technical veterinary or specialist advice and guidance on matters relating to animal health, biosecurity and food safety.
- Undertaking research and developing technical submissions and briefings in support of technical market access negotiations.
- Representing the department during engagement with international trading partners and Australian industry.
- Managing branch inboxes to respond to internal and external enquiries.
- Undertaking research and responding to issues of establishment non-compliance.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To succeed in this role, you will be a high-performing individual with experience in policy or program and an understanding of the Australian export or trade market.

Equally, experience or understanding of Australia’s biosecurity and animal health systems would be highly desirable.

As well as this, the successful applicant will be able to:

- Communicate complex issues clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing
- Analyse complex science-based policy and regulatory issues, identify problems and provide advice on appropriate solutions
- Learn new concepts quickly and contribute to managing change.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve work area goals Prioritise work and meet deadlines.

You must be an Australian citizen and will possess or be willing to go through the process to obtain and maintain a (Baseline, NV1 or NV2) personnel security clearance.
