Public Sector People are currently recruiting in partnership with a Council in Melbourne's vibrant inner suburbs. We're seeking a passionate and skilled professional for a Fixed-Term Contract as the Risk Coordinator. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the community and contribute to positive change in a beautiful and diverse region.
As the Risk Coordinator you will play a vital role in shaping the future of the community during this exciting 6-month fixed-term contract. Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide effective leadership and management of the Risk & Improvement Unit.
- Manage and deliver Council’s risk management program through the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Fraud Prevention Framework, Audit and Risk Committee, and contract management of the Internal Audit contractor.
- Strengthen the resilience of Council’s operations and services through the management of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
- Provide executive leadership across the organszation to influence, embed, and lead the cross-organisational focus on integrity, risk, and resilience into all aspects of the business and coordinate programs that strengthen sustainable practices and outcomes into all aspects of Council’s operations.
**Key Requirements**:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in public sector management, business administration, risk management, or a related discipline, accompanied by several years of practical experience
- Capacity to effectively lead and manage staff, demonstrating the ability to facilitate employee development, model expected behaviors, and manage performance
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to implement best practice management of risk, insurance, audit, business continuity, and compliance.
- Proven experience in overseeing or managing an internal audit function
- Sound working knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
- High-level analytical skills, especially in the interpretation and presentation of complex information to inform decisions
