**The Role**

Reporting to the Communications and Media Manager, the Communications Adviser delivers innovative communications and media services that raise the profile of our key initiatives, investments and programs, making sure our stakeholders receive the right messages, through the right channels, at the right time.

The Communications Adviser may be assigned to any of the department's portfolios and will work on strategic communications to help promote the important work of the department.

Key accountabilities include:

- Create and implement high-quality communication materials, supporting media strategy, reactive issues management, and ministerial media events.
- Provide strategic and tactical communications advice to managers, portfolio stakeholders, and senior staff.
- Align portfolio communications and stakeholder engagement, collaborating to deliver innovative cross-portfolio opportunities.

**The Team**

The Communications Adviser position forms part of the Strategic Communications branch, a high performing team of communications professionals who are passionate about telling the stories that bring the department's work to life and using best practice communications to support the Victorian community.

The branch sits within the Corporate Services Group and consists of specialist functions including strategic communications, finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services.

**About You**

To excel in this role, you will need:

- Expertise in developing high-quality media and communication strategies, including event briefs, releases, speeches, and social media content, delivered promptly with precision in a dynamic environment.
- Experience offering specialised communication and media support to stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to build relationships, advise on policies, and collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholders.
