**About us**
The Portable Long Service Authority (the Authority) is a self-funded statutory body established to administer the Long Service Benefits Portability Act 2018. The Act, together with the Long Service Benefits Portability Regulations 2020 provide a Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme. The Authority plays an important role in allowing workers in the community services, contract cleaning and security industries to build up long service benefits based on time in their industry rather than with a single employer. **About the role**
The Communications Adviser plays a key role in supporting the delivery of the Portable Long Service Authority communications and engagement initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications and Engagement, and supervising the Digital Communications Officer, the role actively participates in a broad range of communication tasks, events and activities to support the delivery of the Authority's Communications and Engagement Plan.
This role is responsible for producing high-quality writing and editing across a range of strategic internal and external communications. The Communications Adviser will also lead the development and execution of events and media announcements, while proactively identifying and managing reputational risks. Some ad hoc after-hours work may be required.
**About you**
To become a critical member of the communications team, you will have well developed skills that include:
- Developing and implementing effective social media and content strategies to support the communications and engagement initiatives.
- Proactively source and identify material to create high-quality content including media releases, Q&As, key messages, speeches, video scripts, story pitches, case studies and online content for traditional media and digital platforms.
- Working collaboratively across the Authority to support the delivery the Annual Report, Corporate Plan and other required publications.
- Providing media and communication support including issues management, media relations, event coordination, media monitoring, content development and regular reporting.
