Our Governance & Risk branch within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking to appoint an **Information Access and Privacy Officer **to join the team dedicated to upholding the department’s commitment to privacy principles and public access to information.

**About the role**

In your role you will also be supporting and providing advice on other statutory, reporting and compliance functions relating to privacy and information access, in addition to helping to develop and improve internal processes and procedures. You may also be involved with the delivery of training to ensure staff are aware of their obligations for both access to information and privacy.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will need to have prior experience interpreting and providing advice on legislation. Working knowledge and experience in the _Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009_, the _Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998_ and the _Health Records and Health Records Act 2002_ is preferred, but not essential for the role.

You will have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to provide trusted advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation. You will also have excellent communication skills and be able to engage and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will have advanced organisational skills and be able to work independently to deliver multiple priorities to meet critical deadlines.

**Key knowledge and experience**
- demonstrated experience working in an environment requiring interpretation and advice on legislation
- demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple priorities and meet statutory or other critical deadlines
- proven experience delivering exceptional service and/or advice to internal and external stakeholders
- working knowledge and experience in the _Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009_, the _Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998_ and/or the _Health Records and Health Records Act 2002 _(preferred).
